Sorry for the late arrival of the website update! The combination of Badger Volleyball and very nice weather made me not want to stay in today! I was a great day for a bike ride. I went down to New Glarus with a few friends and my wife and rode a VERY hilly part of Green County. Alright, enough excuses, let me get down to business.
This week we will be having a Unit Math Test on Tuesday. Most Math Tests are taken over two days and review guides are sent home generally the week prior to the test and always loaded on the printable practice page. Review Guides in 5th Grade are completely optional and will always mirror the test the students will be taking. I do strongly recommend doing the review guide, and bringing questions to me if you have them. I am going to have an extra review session in the class chatroom tomorrow from 4-4:45. I will be in the room able to answer any last minute questions. For those students who do not have internet access, I will be available after school Monday and Tuesday for extra help.
A second reminder is about the use of the Weekly Calendar page. Often the practice listed on the page is very vague. I do this on purpose, to force students to take a bit of the responsibility for what is due the next day. I am sorry it is not a perfect system, but if you need more details and your child is not able to do something, please have them wait until the next day, or give me an email and I'll do my best to get to them. Also, if you click on the calendar on the page, each subject has more details including lesson objectives.
Finally, this week students will be completing the Fall Writing Assessment. An idea sheet will be coming home on Monday to help students get a head start. If you notice any students having a difficult week, please have them come and talk with me and I will do my best to help relax them. We will be splitting our class up into smaller groups to help reduce stress.
Oopps, one last thing. Picture order forms are due on Friday this week. Please send your child with forms by Friday. If you are interested in a retake, they will be taken on Monday, October 4th.
Thanks for a great start to the year! The kids are doing a great job and appear to be learning a lot! Keep in touch and make this week great, or not! The choice is yours!
