Again this week is cut short. Finally, next week, we will have a full week of classes to get us charged up to the end of the school year! I wanted to be clear to everyone, that this week school is in session on Monday. Make sure that everyone is aware of this change from our original school calendar.
The end of fifth grade is always challenging for students at Waubesa as they are closing one chapter in their education careers and opening another. I have already seen many students start to slide and get sloppy with the amount of effort into their own learning. Students will still need to work outside of school on practice sheets and studying. Please try to motivate your student to finish strong! I believe this is a lesson for life, and will definitely pay-off for this school year. I continue to write a complete list of practice on our Weekly Calendar. Remember clicking on each lesson will give the details to what we are doing in class.
On Friday, Scholastic Book Orders for May will be due. I encourage everyone to order books for the summer as we will have this order due Friday, and another that goes home at the end of the month and then it's summer! One of the biggest issues with summer vacation is the amount of time students take off. It is important for their success next year to keep their brains active. A great way to do this is reading! Summer reading loss is a well-researched topic in the field of education, and I encourage all to battle this phenomenon by getting some books for the class. My goal is to purchase at least one book for every student to take home this summer and read! You can help out and order some books for your student using Scholastic Book Club.

At home things to be looking for kids to be doing this week are: Study Links 9.1-9.4, The Invention Projects, Midwest Unit Research, AND How I've Improved Essays. VERY Busy!
This Friday, school will be dismissed at 11:55. Please make sure that arrangements for your students on Friday so they are comfortable with their after school plans.
Let's make this week great, or not! The choice is yours.
