Just wanted to start this blog out with a reminder that we will not have school this Friday the 22nd, and on the Monday that follows the 25th. This means we will have two short weeks in a row! Students need to remain focused on our goals and continue to strive for excellence each day.
Last week, the students of our classroom had a very rough week. We had to meet up a few times and discuss our classroom behavior and our own expectations for the end of the school year. It was getting difficult to hold a strong lesson in our classroom due to the amount of side-conversations and disrespectful behavior that was happening in our classroom. I believe, as a class, we have taken a major step forward, and are ready to regain our previous form and take-off on a strong learning sprint to the finish.
I did want to share the decision that I and our class have made to help put-down these conversations. In our classroom, if students continue to have side-conversations and disrespectful behavior, parents can expect a phone call from the student informing them about the behavior and a follow-up conversation with me. I hope that no students need to call home, but something needed to be done to make sure that the majority of students who were not exhibiting this behavior still had the chance to learn to their greatest potential.
On Tuesday, Students will begin their Southern Research Presentations. It is important that you spend time with your student this weekend and Monday evening practicing their presentations! I will load the videos of all the presentations as soon as possible, so we all can share in the success of our students!
I will once again try to achieve the same goals I set last week! Stay tuned, I am really going to make it happen this week! No EXCUSES!
Make this week great, or not. The choice is yours!
