I am so happy that Frau Clarus and I were able to spend time with everyone during our Conferences on Tuesday. Our conversations were positive and productive, and I know that our students will be able to continue to improve their learning and behavior in our classroom. We will continue to work on developing a culture of respectful learners.
It is strange to say we have a "normal" week next week, but upon further inspection, it looks like there is still a lot of information that needs to be communicated! So let's get to it.
To begin, are students are completing an Advent Calendar and as a part, they have decided to have a Secret Santa as part of the calendar. Students (and Teachers) are a part of this great classroom building activity. We are asking that gifts are brought in by next Wednesday at the latest. I have added this to the calendar. Gifts should be under 5 Euro. Students and Teachers should already know their partner. If you have questions, please ask.
Next weekend, is the Sindelfingen Weinnachtmarkt and there is information in the BaSICS Newsletter (below) about signing up and participating in this event. For those of you who were at the meeting with Tim Kelley about the schools strategic plan, you know we are looking to reach out and be a part of the community we are a part of, this is a great way to do so! I will be there on Friday, after school, and hope to stop by when some others from our class plan to be there. Enjoy this German tradition.
Finally, we will be having our first Skype chat with our buddy classroom in Wisconsin. The classroom is a grade five class at my old school in McFarland, Wisconsin. Mr. John Wells is the homeroom teacher and has a website available through this link. We look forward to sharing language and culture in with these meetings. Eventually, we hope to have students read books together and share in a conversation as well. We will hopefully be chatting weekly, or biweekly to make the connections meaningful and lasting.
Check out the calendar and newsletter below, and as always, visit our daily blog to keep the learning going! I am trying to post beneficial information on this as our students are busy at the end of each day. We will get back to them being a big part of the daily blog soon.
Have a great week!
